Uh . . . I have a Blog! That's DEFINITELY a big deal, especially because everyone and their mother seems to have a blog these days. Yeah, I think I'm done with the sarcasm . . . for now.
So pretty much I'm going to be using this blog to archive the work I've done in the past, the work I'm working on now an the work I have yet to work on. If that even makes sense. Whatever, it's my blog and I don't have to make sense if I don't want to. And I don't.
I guess I'll dedicate this post to my AP Art Portfolio from my Senior Year in High School. The "Concentration" portion of the exam is a collection of 12 completed works that are all united in some way, shape or form by a central theme or concept. There are two other portions: The "Breadth" and "Quality". The "Breadth" section is similar tyo the concentration in that it is comprised of 12 completed works, however this time the idea is to show versatility. Pretty much there is free creative reign in that portion. As long as you demonstrate a mastery of different techniques, media or ideas you're set. The "Quality" is different from the other two sections in that you choose five pieces that you consider to be strong technically and place them in a portfolio. This portfolio is shipped out to the graders of the exam so that they may properly examine your work, your tecnique and your style without the middle-man of Slides, which is how the other two sections are presented.
My Concentration was "Darkness" in which I explored the ideas of light and dark (but mostly dark, of course) in a literal, metaphorical and metaphysical way. Towards the beginning I was exploring "Darkness" by painting still lives and other works using haunting or creepy imagery to portray some fort of supernatural concept. I found myself trying to exploit the idea of Death, but as I thought about it I came to discover that death itself isn't dark, but living with it is. We, the living, are the one's who are left behind to ache and mourn. It was then that I started to explore the different ways that people of deal with the pain that life can effectuate, from the passive response to the extreme.
This is the part where I start to add images:

NOTE: Some of you astute readers may have noticed that there are only 10 Images, even though I stated that the Concentration is a 12 Piece Portfolio. This is true, however I do not currently have digital photographs of the two remaining pieces. Being that I'm new to blogging I don't know if I can edit this post at a later date, but if that's possible I'll be sure to add them when I can. Actually, I might just make a new blog post at that point. We'll see.
So yeah, That's (most of) my concentration. I'll be sure to post what I have of my Breadth and Quality soon, as well as some of my earlier work and my more recent work.
Cheers!

I really like your style of painting and your brush stroke work is really nice. i think it would be interesting to see a painting where you would only paint with the opposite color palate then what you are used to working with.
